The Glasgow based Jenkins family originated in Donegal, Ireland with Evans Jenkins and Esther Rodgers in the late 1700s.
Evans worked on the land as a farmer until the early 1800s just before the start of the Irish Famine at which point he moved to Glasgow with his family including his second wife, Isabella Whitaker.
The first time Evans was identified in Glasgow was in the 1841 Census which listed his living children with Esther as well as his step children (McDonalds) with Isabella.
