David Allen was the eldest child of David Jenkins and Maggie Quinn and was born in Glasgow on 20 October 1849.

As you can see, he had two separate families and one did not know anything about the other one !! He married Ida Angus in Michigan, fathering nine children.
He fled south to Louisiana after the industrial dispute and he lived with Mary Emmaline McCann as husband and wife and they had eight children.
David married Ida Angus on 10 March 1873 in Saginaw, Michigan and they went on to have nine children. A chart of his Michigan family can be seen here.
The Michigan family consisted of six sons and three daughters with all of them living and working in the Michigan area. The major source of employment was the automotive industry in the city of Detroit and surrounding areas.
